Everybody Wants Love

Most of us dream of finding the “perfect” partner and walking out into the sunset for a life filled with love, appreciation, fun, sensual and sexual ecstasy, and continual joy. In the past, many of us dreamed of creating the type of relationship we saw in a romantic movie.  It may have been somewhat unrealistic but at least it was distant, unknown, strangers and something to wish for and dream about.

Love CAN and often DOES heal!

  • Do you believe it is possible to heal your body through love?
  • Can you heal your relationships through love?
  • Can you heal your finances, your addictions and anything else through love?
  • Have you ever had the experience of healing through love?

However, love the way most of us define it, describe it and live it, is not really love but can be labeled as something else.  For example, we can easily feel that we “love” a gorgeous young woman or a strikingly handsome young man.  But has that “love” stood the test of time?  What if that man or woman is in a serious accident and has severe facial scarring, loss of a limb or a chronic life limiting illness?  What if that man or woman is very demanding or needy and clinging or unable to provide financial stability or support?  What if that man or woman has an affair or betrays your trust? This post was inspired by an article I read in Family Therapy Magazine. The title was: “Moral Injury Among Combat Veterans: A Healing Journey Through Vietnam” by Sebastian Perumbilly, Ph.D. Growing up in the 1960’s and 1970’s, I was always fascinated with stories about Vietnam, how soldiers imprisoned in a hole in the ground, tortured by sadistic prison guards, or terrified of stepping on an explosive land mine, managed to survive.
