The Science Of Being Well
In The Time Of Covid-19 And Beyond

There IS a Science of Being Well.

Although he is best known for his mega-popular book: The Science of Getting Rich, recently I discovered this gemstone of a different book that he wrote in 1910: The Science of Being Well.  Since this book is in the public domain, I published a new version for which I have added images and a study guide for each chapter.  It is available as a Kindle e book and a paperback print book.

If You Get Well, It Must Be By Giving
Your WHOLE MIND To The Right Way Of Thinking And Living.

We do not usually become seriously ill and remain ill merely because of the apparent source of our infection or injury.  We have an inborn healing mechanism within our body that is magnificently created and far more exacting and healing than any pharmaceutical or natural remedy.

Our Body Is Not What It Appears To Be.

Today I spoke to 2 tech support people in the Philippines. In the past, I might have been annoyed and impatient, but nowadays, with all the uncertainty and fear arising during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is comforting to speak directly with someone at the other end of the world.  We are experiencing a sense of shared humanity and that we are truly all in this together, despite the many emerging conflicts and disparities.  As human beings, the composition of our body is not so different from the body of anyone else, anywhere on this planet earth.

We are not merely our physiology.  We are not simply constructed as a solid mass of skin, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, fat, neurons, cells, organs and organ systems.

“Almost 99% of the mass of the human body is made up of six elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorous.  Only about 0.85% is composed of another five elements: potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium.  All are necessary for life.”
      ~ en.wikipedia.org

“Body composition may be analyzed in various ways.

This can be done in terms of the

  • chemical elements present, or
  • by molecular type e.g., water, protein, fats (or lipids), hydroxylapatite (in bones), carbohydrates (such as glycogen and glucose) and
  • DNA.

In terms of tissue type, the body may be analyzed into

  • water, fat, connective tissue, muscle, bone, etc.

In terms of cell type, the body contains hundreds of different types of cells, but notably, the largest number of cells contained in a human body (though not the largest mass of cells) are not human cells, but

  • bacteria residing in the normal human gastrointestinal tract.”   ~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composition_of_the_human_body

No matter how intricate, complex and specific the scientific discoveries and explanations of the elements and features that comprise our body and the dynamic interacting functions of our body, we are not just a physical body.

Our amazing brain determines how our body functions.

To be well, to prevent illness and to overcome infections, injuries and any other insults to our body, we must engage our brain for healing.

Dr Norman Doidge, A psychiatrist and researcher from the University of Toronto in Canada, put neuroplasticity in the spotlight in 2007 when he released his bestseller The Brain That Changes Itself….  [I had the pleasure of seeing his live presentation many years ago at the annual U.S. Association for Body Psychotherapy Conference]

His latest book, The Brain’s Way of Healing: Remarkable Discoveries and Recoveries From the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity, tells the stories of patients benefiting from neuroplasticity, healing their brains without medication or surgery.”

Dr. Doidge has been on the cutting edge of brain research and there are so many other researchers, best-selling authors, trainers, healers, physicians and other health professionals that I will be highlighting as I teach and expand The Science of Being Well courses.
